hole and expose an 8 foot storm pipe. city officials say the big pipe was designed to safely transport a massive amount of water underneath this road steering rain water away from homes but somehow it failed. on sunday morning, the road caved in - the crater is now huge, 80 feet long, 30 wide and 18 feet deep. the failure is under investigation, but in the meantime, the race is on to figure out how to put in another drainage system. city officials say if there is not a temporary fix put in before the next storm hits ... it could be disasterous out here. also in the east bay... the amount we are expecting the rains to come back on tuesday. with a heavy rainfall on wednesday. the goal is to get down to this storm pipe by this time tomorrow as we can assess the situation. if we were exposed like this water would be the enemy when it comes to soil. if it came in like this fully exposed it could be catastrophic. we are trying to get the utility company to get down to the storm drain to reassess it and get it working for wednesday. if not, some taboret control measures and be prepared fo

park is half the trees -- it's a city block, so two streets are actually maintained by rec and park and our staff will maintain the trees after we put them in. two of the other streets i believe steiner and ellis are part of the dpw infrastructure and i say that in quotes a little bit because it's recreation and park garden staff maintains curb to curb in those instances. the true responsibility relies in two departments, but the reality is that parks and recreation garden staff will maintain the trees overtime. this is part of the clean neighborhood, $3.3 million to address this and other park improvements. >> thank you. >> good evening commissioners carla short, department of public works urban forestry. i don't really have anything to add to what dan said, but we did indicate this trees a tree appropriate for removal based on the recent limb failure and the presence of decay already. we're already seeing the signs of decay. the limb -- i didn't see it when it came off the tree as well, but based on what remains and i will switch photos on the overhead. basically this area is
